DairyPilot® | Lower Somatic Cell Counts and Higher Milk Production

At Georg Eppeneder’s dairy farm, DairyPilot® supported feed intake and overall herd health. Somatic cell counts fell from 180,000 to below 90,000 cells/mL, while average milk production increased from 9,600 to 10,400 litres.

The operation

  • 55 cows in lactation (Simmental cattle)
  • Average herd production: 10,300 litres | 4.2% fat | 3.5% protein

Our solution

  • 100 g DairyPilot® + 300 g NutriEffect per animal/day
  • 200 g DairyPilot® per cow/day during the summer months to keep somatic cell counts low

The goal

  • Reduce somatic cell count
  • Improve overall animal health
  • Increase milk production
  • Improve feed intake

The success

By using DairyPilot®, the feed intake, performance and overall health of the herd improved markedly. Most importantly, the somatic cell count was reduced from an average of 180,000 cells/mL to less than 90,000 cells/mL. As a result, more than 85% of the herd maintained healthy udders! In addition, milk production increased from a herd average of 9,600 to 10,400 litres.

The statement

DairyPilot®

"DairyPilot® delivers more stability and certainty to my herd, both in terms of feed intake and health. Since we started using it, the animals are healthier and less often affected by problems such as mastitis. This has lowered our vet bills. The positive effect of DairyPilot® is especially pronounced during the summer months."
